Student Orientation, Advisement, & Registration Program (S.O.A.R.)
Gainesville Campus
Soar into life at GSC!!!
- SOAR
is our Student Orientation, Advisement, and Registration process for new
freshmen and transfer students.
- SOAR
is designed to introduce students to campus resources, provide information
about basic registration processes, and guide them in course planning.
- SOAR
provides the foundation for students’ academic introduction to the college
and will help them to be more comfortable and successful in the GSC
environment.
- All first-time freshmen are required to
attend a SOAR
session.
- New transfer students are encouraged
to attend a SOAR
session.
- SOAR
includes sessions for parents and students. Please note that parents will
not attend registration with their students, so you may want to discuss your
students' class choices with them ahead of attending
SOAR.
Watch this space for new links to parent information, which is currently
being developed.
- SOAR
sessions are held at both the Gainesville and Oconee campuses prior to the
start of each academic term in fall, spring, and summer.
- As the SOAR sessions listed on the sigh-up form fill up, more
will be opened up. These will occur later in the summer. It is to your
advantage to sign up for a session that occurs as early as possible, as
students at these SOAR sessions will have a wider variety of classes
from which to choose during registration. The early bird really does get the
worm at SOAR!
